Volunteer Work:
I was an AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Member for 10 months before being employed at BDT. I travelled around the East and Gulf Coasts with a group of 10 peers, and I learned how to rehabilitate/build homes, organic farm, and write press releases about our community service. It was a transformative experience.
Past Employment:
The Attic (secondhand clothing store), AmeriCorps NCCC.
If I Had Chosen Another Career, I Would Have Been…
It's a three-way tie between photographer/graphic designer, stand-up comedian, and MTV VJ from the 1980's (I realize that this requires time travel).
Greatest Personal Accomplishment:
Being self-sufficient (for the most part), and learning SEPTA routes.
Why BDT?
It's a good organization to work for. The work is varied and I get to assist many people over the course of the day. Also, I like my co-workers and bosses, and the management is receptive to feedback.
